Today I Start Moving Upwards
Upwards soccer that is. It’s time to get active in some sort of ministry outside of the Church, meet some new people, and teach others about Christ. I had talked with my wife about getting active in something this spring and the owner of our local pizza shop asked if I would be interested in Upwards.
Upwards is a youth based ministry outreach designed to teach the basics of sports and deliver the Gospel message to children. My first impressions have been extremely positive. I am not only allowed to have prayer and devotions at practice and games, but am required to. The program encourages the coaches to invite un-churched team members to church and to explain the gospel to them.
Tonight will be our first outside practice, weather permitting, and I am pumped. The opportunity to teach Christ along with soccer to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, that’s just beyond belief. God truly is good.
